UNI making its mark in STEM education
UNI is passionate about Science, Engineering, Technology & Mathematics (STEM) education. Many faculty, staff and students are working with pre-K through 12 schools to raise student achievement in STEM, inform students of careers in STEM and provide teachers with professional development opportunities in STEM education.
So not only is UNI training the next generation of biology, physics and math teachers, but existing teachers can access great resources through programs such as UNI's Center for Teaching & Learning Mathematics and the Fabulous Resources for Energy Education programs at UNI's Center for Energy & Environmental Education
The university is also providing expertise through the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council, co-chaired by UNI President Benjamin Allen. In fact, UNI is the home to of one of six Iowa STEM regional hubs, the Northeast Iowa STEM Region, led by STEM hub manager James Hoelscher.
