Your voice made the difference

The Iowa Legislature adjourned last week after approving a 7 percent increase in funding for the University of Northern Iowa. This coupled with the money the legislature approved for UNI last year, is enough to again freeze resident undergraduate tuition in the fall; the first back-to-back tuition freeze in 30 years.

Your letters and emails throughout the legislative session made the difference.  So from all the students, faculty and staff at UNI, a hearty THANK YOU! With this additional funding, UNI will continue to be an affordable and accessible option for Iowa families.

Please consider sending one final note to your local legislators thanking them for their continued support of UNI. We'd specifically like to recognize the hard work of Sen. Brian Schoenjahn and Rep. Cecil Dolecheck, who chair the House and Senate Education Committees, as well as our Black Hawk County delegation who fought hard for UNI all session.
