Starting a new chapter with Mark A. Nook, UNI's 11th president
Even though today is President Mark A. Nook's official first day as UNI's 11th president, it's no surprise that he has already jumped right in by attending campus and community events and meeting with students, faculty and staff.
Nook was named president of UNI in December 2016. He arrived on campus in January after serving as the chancellor of Montana State University Billings (MSUB). Nook grew up in Holstein, Iowa, and earned his bachelor's degree in physics and mathematics from Southwest Minnesota State University, a master's degree in astrophysics from Iowa State University and a Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
In his welcome message, he stated that he is "honored to serve UNI students, faculty and staff as president of this great university. As I learn more about the campus community, I will also work toward ensuring that each student reaches his or her educational, professional and personal life goals."
During the spring semester, Nook and his wife, Cheryl, will continue to spend their time getting to know campus and the community.
Welcome to UNI President Nook!
