Better prepared than ever

Last week the University of Northern Iowa’s College of Education inducted 380 students into the Teacher Education Program during its biannual convocation ceremony. The program is building on a 136-year history as it strives to lead the state and nation in pre-K through 12 education.

Students enter the teacher preparation program with an average GPA of 3.40 and graduate with an average 3.50 GPA. They complete 95 hours of field experiences and two eight-week student-teaching placements. UNI is committed to preparing competent and confident teachers who are in turn ready to provide leadership in literacy, diversity and technology.

• 92 percent of UNI's teaching graduates find a job or are accepted to graduate school within six months

• Nearly 12,000 alumni educators work in Iowa today

Upcoming Events

UNI offers an Advanced Studies Certificate in Superintendency program and an online Master of Arts in Physical Education. Both programs are accepting applications through Nov. 15.
