UNI will celebrate nearly 1,600 graduates at spring Commencement
Spring 2025 graduates are officially starting their chapter as alumni of the University of Northern Iowa. This semester saw 1,554 students graduate, including representatives from 96 Iowa counties. These students carry an average undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.45. From engineering to accounting to teaching and everything in between, UNI has helped prepare these graduates to meet the demands of the Iowa workforce.
“Without UNI I wouldn’t be where I am today,” said Emily Prebil, who graduated with degrees in psychology and Spanish. “This university has given me so many opportunities to grow and I will leave as a completely different person than when I walked onto campus four years ago (in the best way possible). I have discovered what my passion is throughout my time and will continue on to get my master’s in a field that I didn’t even know existed three years ago. I have been supported by faculty and staff as I have learned and grown into what I know I am meant to do. UNI is so much more than a university where you go to get an education — it is a deeply rooted support system and will help you chase any dream you can think of.”
As of 2024:
- 94% of UNI graduates report starting a new job, continuing their education or meeting their professional expectations within six months of graduation.
- 93% of students graduate with experience in their field, such as an internship, field experience or a pre-professional part-time job.
- 1,000+ unique employers hire UNI students annually.
- $54,816 is the average starting salary for a UNI graduate.
- Nearly 80% of UNI graduates stay in the state of Iowa.
- 1 in 9 UNI students graduate in three years - that’s the highest percentage in school history.
