UNI students shatter fundraising goal at 2013 Dance Marathon
UNI students raised $101,379.02, for the University of Iowa Children's Hospital and Children's Miracle Network, during their second annual Dance Marathon. That’s nearly double what they raised last year and well above their goal of $66,000.
The event’s success shouldn’t come as a surprise. In their inaugural year, UNI Dance Marathon raised $56,473, breaking the national record for most money raised by a first-year dance marathon.
This year, the approximately 900 students participating had the honor of meeting Zac Johnson, the director of the national movement of Dance Marathon. Johnson chose to attend UNI's event based on its stellar record last year.
The UNI Dance Marathon is part dance party, part fundraiser to raise money for critically ill children and their families at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital.
