UNI Helps Adult Students Earn Degrees

The mission of UNI’s Center for Urban Education [https://eop.uni.edu/uni-cue/mission] (UNI-CUE) is to provide a positive environment for lifetime learning in which individuals may pursue and continue their educational goals and prepare for careers. UNI-CUE prepares adult students and other non-traditional learners to be successful in community colleges, four-year institutions, trade programs, or other opportunities beyond high school. The center also helps individuals complete the High School Equivalency Program (formerly known as GED).
 
Students who use the Educational Opportunity Center [https://eop.uni.edu/educational-opportunity-center] (EOC) at UNI-CUE receive more than just help completing forms. UNI’s educational counselors understand the obstacles students face when enrolling in postsecondary education—financial, personal and family—and help them create a personalized plan to work through those obstacles to attend school.
 
To get on the path to higher education, the EOC services include:
·         Assistance completing college applications
·         Assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
·         Help in resolving student loan defaults
·         Personalized academic counseling
·         Career research
·         Scholarship information
·         Financial literacy resources
·         Information and referrals to the High School Completion Program (formerly known as GED)
 
EOC is federally funded by the U.S. Department of Education and provides assistance at no cost to eligible participants. UNI-CUE currently serves the Black Hawk, Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw and Tama county areas and helps the students attend the college of their choice.
