UNI Career Services helps students succeed after graduation
Fall 2019 commencement is this Saturday, December 21 at 10 a.m. in the McLeod Center. UNI Career Services has helped these upcoming graduates with selecting careers, writing resumes, interviewing, networking, developing a professional social platform, exploring graduate school programs and finding their first job. Last year, the average student secured their job two and a half months prior to graduation.
UNI Career Services provides both a fall and spring job fair annually. With a robust economy, UNI has had record or near-record engagement from employers and graduate programs. And while a number of Fortune 500’s do recruit at UNI, Career Services loves that around 70% of UNI job fair businesses are small to mid-sized businesses and nonprofit organizations from Iowa or the surrounding region.
The upcoming spring Job, Internship, & Graduate School Fair is Monday, February 17, 2020, at the McLeod Center. Face-to-face contact with employers is crucial in the job or internship search process. Some students who are applying for jobs or internships may send out several “faceless” resumes or online applications. However, by attending a career fair the student has the opportunity to connect with an employer and discuss their personal qualities as well as the knowledge, skills and abilities they can bring to a job.
The UNI Overseas Teaching Fair connects American international K-12 schools with certified educators year-round. Over 30,000 educators have utilized UNI’s services since it started in 1976. The next UNI Overseas Teaching Fair is January 31 to February 1, 2020. Over 120+ American international schools representing 50+ countries will attend. This is a unique event in that you must be a certified teacher to attend. As the oldest international teaching fair in the world, our reputation for being cost effective, well organized and personal has sustained us for the past 44 years. We are known internationally because of this fair and introduce more new teachers to international teaching than any other international teaching fair. The cost to UNI students and UNI overseas teacher candidates is zero.
Finally, the UNI Teaching Fair is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2020, at the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. It is free for educators and schools and will include 70+ school districts from across the U.S. and 300+ teachers. It is open to all PK-12 educators seeking employment for 2020-2021.
