UNI campus kicks off the 2023-2024 school year
Students are once again back on UNI campus for the start of the 2023-2024 school year. New students will experience the personalized touch of the UNI campus for the first time, and returning students will get the feeling of coming home after a summer away.
There are so many awesome things to celebrate when it comes to being a Panther!
This fall, UNI is officially launching new degrees including a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science & Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science Engineering Technology. Earlier this summer, UNI also announced it would be restructuring its health programs to launch the new School of Health and Human Sciences.
The College of Education launched two versions of the Purple Pathway in Education. At the graduate level, UNI developed a partnership with Des Moines Area Community College to bring the Purple Pathway for School Administrators program to the DMACC Urban Campus, with the new cohort starting fall 2023. At the undergraduate level, UNI developed the Purple Pathway for Paraeducators, providing a seamless pathway for paraeducators to become elementary education and special education teachers. Launched in fall 2022, the inaugural cohort is preparing to student-teach in spring 2024 and graduate in May 2024.
As we look ahead to a new school year, UNI is optimistic about enrollment projections, with the official student census set to come out September 7.
Fall sporting events have kicked off for the Panthers! The soccer team will play against Saint Ambrose University on Aug. 29 on the UNI Soccer FIeld. The football team will take on Iowa State University in a much-anticipated game in Ames on Sept. 2. The first home game of the season will be against Weber State University on Sept. 9. The volleyball team will have its first home match of the season on Sept. 14 against the University of North Dakota in the McLeod Center. For more information on fall sports, visit unipanthers.com.
Over the summer, UNI broke ground on a renovation to the Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center. But the nearly $15 million renovation and expansion project will not stop students, staff and community members from enjoying the performing arts at the Gallagher Bluedorn. This fall’s entertainment includes Kevin James, LeAnn Rimes, “Annie,” “Mean Girls” and more. Tickets can be purchased on the Gallagher Bluedorn’s website.
