Journal of the Iowa Academy of Science now available worldwide because of UNI’s Rod Library

The Journal of the Iowa Academy of Science is now available digitally for the first time worldwide. The Rod Library staff partnered with Craig Johnson, the director of the Iowa Academy of Science, to complete this major digitization project through the university’s institutional repository, UNI ScholarWorks.

The Iowa Academy of Science Board allowed UNI ScholarWorks to share these articles from 1887 to 2012 via open access. There are over 7,000 articles which have been globally downloaded more than 55,000 times since becoming available. This project is preserving history, research and information not only for the benefit of Iowans but with the world.

UNI ScholarWorks, launched in February 2015, is one of the Rod Library's unique services that showcases student and faculty scholarship, research and creative works. The Rod Library strives to continue to connect students with the resources they need to succeed and events that apply information beyond the classroom.
