Dear Educators, Thank You
In recognition of Teacher Appreciation Week, UNI would like to thank our alumni educators across Iowa, the U.S. and the globe who are shaping our future, one life at a time.
More than 10,000 alumni educators are employed in the state of Iowa and can be found across 99% of school districts and in all 99 of the state's counties. They're also found in every state in the U.S. and the District of Columbia, as well as many countries across the world. UNI's teacher education program in particular continues to add outstanding graduates to the field at a rate of more than 450 new teachers each year, making the program the largest in the state of Iowa.
“UNI's reputation as the best teacher preparation program in the state and the dedicated faculty made deciding where to go to college easy for me,” explained Levi LaRue, secondary English teacher at North Tama Schools and a 2010 English education major. “I also appreciate the professional networks I have developed at UNI and the resources they offer teachers.”
In addition to offering a wide range of educator preparation degree programs, UNI is home to centers and programs that provide support to our educators. Some of these resources include the Geographic Alliance of Iowa, the Regents' Center for Early Developmental Education and the National Program for Playground Safety.
At the University of Northern Iowa, preparation of the finest and most experienced educators has always been at the core of who we are. Join us in thanking an educator today for their dedication to students across Iowa and beyond!
