Congratulations to our 2015 graduates!
Our graduating seniors found the right fit when they came to UNI. Their strong academic preparation, relationships with faculty and other students, and varied out-of-class experiences helped them create a strong foundation for their future. Here are just a few of our outstanding fall graduates.
Kellsey Forest
Hometown: Tipton
Double Major: Psychology and Family Services
"My time at UNI has flown by! I absolutely loved my classes and professors from both majors. I have accepted a job working at the Department of Human Services as a social work associate. I then hope to attend graduate school next fall in either social work or mental health counseling."
Savon Huggins
Hometown: Jackson, New Jersey
Major: M.A., Physical Education in Kinesiology with an Emphasis in Sports Psychology
"I transferred from Rutgers University in New Jersey after receiving my bachelor's degree in economics. I felt right at home once I got on UNI's campus. Everything was accessible to me and I had the opportunity to finish my master's degree and play collegiate football for my final year.
"On and off the field I did the best I could to lead by example. I had the honor of being named captain of the UNI football team. Being able to finish my master's in one year goes to show that if you put your mind to something and work for it, anything is possible.
"After graduation I will be training for the NFL and getting involved in coaching and personal training."
Renee Croghan
Hometown: Alton
Double Major: Accounting and Economics
"After touring UNI's campus, I knew this was the place for me. UNI is a right-size university with all the opportunities of a big university with a small campus atmosphere. UNI has a lot of great academic programs that will set students up for success upon graduation and plenty of great clubs and student organizations that also add value.
"I will be taking UNI's CPA review courses to obtain my CPA certification, then I will be working as an audit associate for RSM (formerly McGladrey) in Des Moines after graduation."
Kip Woods
Hometown: Cedar Falls
Major: Manufacturing Technology: Metal Casting & Advanced Manufacturing
"I am a nontraditional student veteran, former United States Air Force telecommunications specialist. My first impression of UNI was when Professor Giese gave me a walk-through of the metal casting facilities. I thought pouring molten metal was amazing. And I still think pouring molten metal is amazing.
"The greatest benefit of being involved with UNI's Metal Casting Center is interfacing with customers and commercial companies on real-world projects. The experience goes beyond classroom instruction and transitions to real-world experience.
"After graduation I will be continuing my education with a Master's Fellowship program with the goal of helping the Department of Defense acquire rapidly produced quality castings."
